Bridging the gap between academic theory and practical work experience is often the most challenging step for recent graduates in South Africa. The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA)—a government entity operating within the Ministry for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA)—has officially opened applications for its Graduate Internship Programme for 2026–2028.
This initiative offers 14 paid internship positions across six professional business streams. Located at MISA’s Head Office in Centurion, Gauteng, the programme provides selected graduates with a 24-month fixed contract to gain hands-on public sector exposure.

Eligibility & Entry Criteria
To be eligible for MISA Graduate Internship Programme, applicants must meet the following mandatory requirements:
- Be an unemployed South African citizen.
- Hold a completed National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) from a accredited higher education institution.
- Have never previously participated in any public service or government graduate internship programme.
- Be available to work full-time at MISA Head Office in Centurion, Gauteng, for the full 24-month duration.
Important Clarification for TVET Students: This programme strictly requires an NQF Level 6 National Diploma or NQF Level 7 Degree. Candidates holding an N6 theoretical certificate who still require 18 months of practical Work Integrated Learning (WIL) to obtain their diploma do not meet the entry criteria for this specific graduate intake.
Required Documents
MISA follows the updated Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) recruitment guidelines. Candidates are not required to submit certified copies of qualifications or ID documents upon initial application.
Mandatory Initial Submission Items:
- New Prescribed Z83 Application Form: Fully completed, initialled, and signed by hand. (The newer Z83 form is mandatory; older versions will result in automatic disqualification).
- Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV): Outlining academic achievements, modules completed, administrative skills, and contactable references with phone numbers and email addresses.
Note for Shortlisted Candidates: Only applicants who are shortlisted will be required to submit certified copies of their ID, proof of residence, academic transcripts, and degree/diploma certificates on or before the interview date.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do I need to attach my certified qualification or ID copy when emailing my application?
No. Under current public service regulations, initial submissions require only a fully completed new Z83 form and an updated CV. Certified copies of qualifications, academic records, and identity documents are requested only if you are shortlisted for an interview.
Can I apply for multiple internship streams?
You should apply strictly for the stream that directly corresponds to your completed tertiary qualification. If you legitimately qualify for more than one stream, you must submit a separate email application with the correct reference number and Z83 form to each respective email address.
Can TVET College N6 certificate holders apply?
No. The MISA Graduate Internship Programme specifies an NQF Level 6 National Diploma or NQF Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree as the minimum requirement. N6 certificate holders who require Work Integrated Learning (WIL) should look for specific learnership or experiential training opportunities rather than graduate internships.
What happens if I have previously completed a government internship?
Applicants who have previously participated in any public service internship programme are strictly ineligible. This initiative is reserved exclusively for unemployed graduates who have not yet gained previous government internship exposure.
